Many people are a bit confused by Okeeffe's words, 'Self-employed people need not always be madmen or oddballs.' Yes, she is saying that you do not have to be an unpleasant person, but there is a certain edge to working for yourself that is necessary. If you are not good at things, this is where you have to draw the line and set yourself aside from all the rest.
Okeeffe wrote that you do not have to be self employed but you have to be willing to do your own thing and give up that attitude which is something that does not always come naturally. The more passionate you are about what you do, the better, not to mention that there will be a cash flow for you to be able to grow that passion.
